Growing up in Brockley, South-East London, Sharon-Ann attended John Stainer primary school, Catford Girls comprehensive, South East London College, Croydon College and Bromley College of Technology, where to further her experience in finance, she studied for an AAT degree. Sharon-Ann started her career as an Accounts Clerk and as her passion in finance and payroll grew she made her way up the financial ladder, often working in the City or West-End of London, from Accounts Manager, Accounts Supervisor, Business office Manager to becoming co-founder and owner of a restaurant business with her husband Danny.
Her hobbies include reading, writing poetry, short stories or plays, graphic designing and playing Backgammon. She recently joined a choir in Sutton and works with a leading hospital’s focus group to assist with the training of Practice Nurses by sharing her experiences. Sharon also helps out as a volunteer at her Church.
Fighter and writer
Sharon-Ann describes herself as a fighter and a writer.
After a series of devastating, heartfelt events, including losing various loved ones and partner, Sharon-Ann was unexpectedly left to battle a life-threatening cancer and rare heart disease, amyloidosis which inevitably changed her life. She went from a fit and active working mother of three to someone she hardly recognised: pumped and plumped from the chemotherapy and steroid treatments, her condition left her weak and frail, unable to climb a flight of stairs or make a cup of tea without gasping for breath.
Sharon-Ann puts her trust in God and determined not to allow her medical condition to obstruct her, or succumb to what the doctor’s had said, she fought back.
Being laid off work and disabled by her condition was the catalyst which sparked her writing: and while recovering at home, she wrote her first memoir, Why Me? Where she openly and honestly bares all, in her story; ‘my fight for life from heartbreak to hope.’
By combining her passion to write, with her strong desire to encourage, she hopes that by sharing her experiences in Why Me? she will bring hope, insight and inspiration, to all who may be dealing with devastation through loss and a typically taboo subject.
